Play American Football
American football is a unique sport where there is a position for everyone to play, no matter what your size, age or experience is. There is no better time than the present to start playing American football with the Cowboys. Our senior kitted team is for males and females aged 18 and over and is the contact version of the sport, like the NFL. The flag team is non-contact (similar to tag rugby) and is for males and females aged 16 and over. You could be the next star of the Cowboys, so why not give it a go!
Why the Cowboys?
- One of Ireland's original American Football clubs - formed in 1986.
- Have won all titles available to clubs in Ireland (Shamrock Bowl, DV8 Championship, IAFA Youth League & Emerald Bowl).
- Established culture of learning, trust, family and enjoyment.
- Stable and well managed club.
- Some of the best individually talented players in Ireland.
- Multi-cultural and diverse club, welcoming to all corners of the local community.
THAT EQUIPMENT LOOKS EXPENSIVE, HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We don't expect you buy equipment before you take your first snap. Here at the Cowboys, we provide you with the basic equipment you need until you gain some experience, then you are expected to gradually buy your own equipment until you have it all and we can pass on your club equipment to the next rookie to try.
In total the basic equipment you will need costs around £250 – the club is able to get a discount on all football equipment after you register.

I play other sports, will this interfere?
The Cowboys train at various times during the week, with flag matches typically on Saturdays and senior matches on Sundays. To be successful in this sport, a high level of dedication outside of training is required with regards to eating appropriately and working out - we can supply the necessary advice and support you need to do that.
