Sunday past saw the junior ‘Boys put on a brave display as they closed out the season at home to the Minotaur’s and Soldiers in a way not so synonymous with the Cowboys.
The injury plagued team lined up for the first game against the Minotaur’s. Injuries severely impacted their chances of making any effective impact on the game however as is so common with this junior side they fought hard and battled until the very end giving a fantastic account of themselves in their penultimate game of the season. The fighting spirit of the team was truly epitomised through everyone’s commitment to not giving up. OL Burzyński may not have been particularly mobile for his second stint in the game but his willingness speaks volumes about the level of commitment. The second game followed similar patterns and again the scoring in this one favoured the visiting Soldiers. Special performance mentions go out to QB Anton Nulty and RB Jamie Wilson who both played with their heart on their sleeves, taking a beating in the process but giving a stellar performance all the same. Five of the Cowboys junior teams got call ups to the Ireland U20 squad – Anton Nulty, Scott Buchanan, Bartholomew Burzyński, Darren McCann and Ryan Prunty. Congratulations to them and keep up the good work! The Boy’s will now take a well-deserved recovery break before some move off to join the Senior Squad. Craigavon Cowboys Rookie Try-Outs are now set to take place in the coming weeks and both juniors and seniors will be there to check in as ready for the new season, why not come down and give it a go?
