This years Cowan Cup draft took place on Sunday with 24 participants eagerly waiting to hear which illustrious team would call their name... For those unfamiliar with the Cowan Cup, here’s a little history. The Cowan Cup is a in-club flag football tournament between 3 teams - Team Buchanan, Team Cowan and Team Loughran - where they all play against each other and the team that comes top wins the prestigious Cowan Cup, with the club raising money for a charitable cause - this year it’s going towards our Toy Drive for the Children’s Ward in Craigavon Area Hospital. Team Buchanan have lifted the silverware once whilst it’s been Team Loughran who has held onto the Cup for a number of years. Ironically Team Cowan have never held their own Cup. Before we reveal the teams, we’ll reveal the team colours. Team Buchanan have switched from their usual blue attire to the club colour of orange. Team Cowan has changed the uniform game by selecting a festive Christmas theme for the big day. Team Loughran on the other hand hope to be playing the part of Scrooge in this Christmas Carol by choosing a basic black uniform. With the results of last years tournament, Team Buchanan received the first pick, Team Cowan with the second and Team Loughran with the third pick in each round. The teams are as follows: We’ll talk to each Captain this week to get their thoughts ahead of Sunday and how they thought their draft went. If you’d like to come down and see what’s happening or to donate to our toy drive, the Cowan Cup is taking place at Annagh United 3G pitch between 11am and 2pm. This will be the last chance for donations!
