2019 Senior Team Coaching Staff Announced

Ahead of our senior teams first practice of 2019 this Sunday, we are pleased to announce our coaching staff for this upcoming season.

Head Coach
Greg Loughran

​Greg returns as head coach for his 12th year at the helm. Greg has been involved in American football in Ireland since the leagues inception in 1986 having been a player for a number of years before turning to coaching. His wealth of experience and knowledge has been, and continues to be, a huge benefit to the Cowboys. Two IAFL 1 Bowl losses in a row has only made Greg more determined to lead the team one step further this year.

Offensive Co-Ordinator
Christian Cowan

Offensive Assistant Coaches: Manny Bell & Peter Loughran

​Christian returns for his second year as OC, having taken up the position for the 2018 season and overseeing the offense score 26 points on average per game during last year’s campaign. With a year under his belt at the Cowboys as OC, he will be looking to really make his mark as he looks to improve that average offensive score per game as well as reduce turnovers. Manny and Peter will assist Christian, having 20 years of Irish American football experience between them. 

Defensive Co-Ordinator
Mark Beattie

Defensive Assistant Coaches: Darren Burnside, Jakub Kowalczyk & Stephen Lynch

​Mark also returns for his second year in charge of the defense. In the 2018 campaign, the Cowboys defense gave up 14 points on average per game, something Mark was pleased with but wants to improve upon, as well as increase the number of turnovers his defense forces. The Cowboys defense has a reputation as a hard hitting unit, which is something Darren Burnside will look to uphold as the former player returns to the club to take up a coaching role. Jakub will provide a lot of experience from having played in Poland as well as Ireland, whilst Stephen, who is the brother of the late club legend Terry Lynch, is keen to learn and help the team succeed.

Special Teams Co-Ordinator
Ivan Chapman

​Special Teams Assistant Coaches: Gareth McShane & James Loughran

​Ivan takes up the role as Special Teams Co-Ordinator, having previously played for the Cowboys in the 80s and 90s before making a comeback last year. Gareth and James will assist Ivan, with 21 years of Irish American football experience between them.
